The Mindil Beach Sunset Markets have been operating at Darwin's beautiful Mindil Beach every Thursday and Sunday night of the Dry Season for a number of years. Around 240 stalls operate every Thursday night, attracting thousands who come to eat, drink and watch the sun set over the Arafura Sea. Many visitors bring their own tables and chairs, and a chilled bottle of wine to enjoy. Almost 60 varied food stalls, including Korean, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, Sri Lankan, Thai, Laotian, Indian and even Yugoslavian line the beach. Aussie food stalls can easily be found offering emu, kangaroo and sausage "sangers". The remainder of the market comprises art and craft or charity stalls together with a number of local entertainers.
