Jambalaya Carnival in New Zealand: 03-01-2008

The Jambalaya carnival is a three-day event featuring some of New Zealand's top international and national acts in theatre, dance, music and performance.
Taking place in Rotorua from January 4th, the event includes workshops and theatre shows as well as live performances from musicians and circus performers.
Market stalls and kids programmes also take place alongside a vibrant street carnival that the organisers describe as the "most beautiful energetic carnival parade this side of Brazil".
But holidaymakers looking for a more relaxing time can also enjoy shady walks through the trees down to the lake and some of the international food on offer.
A special carnival village is also created and is filled with art markets and more food stalls as well as dancers to crate a bustling street scene.
Anyone visiting the area outside of carnival time should visit the Rainbow Springs park that has been heavily involved in the nationwide kiwi recovery programme.
