Lonely Planet praises New Zealand: 19-08-2008

The Lonely Planet has praised New Zealand and urged it to stay green while attracting more tourists.
The company which releases guide books on destinations across the world has published its 14th edition on New Zealand and said there were few countries as "diverse".
"There are few countries on this lonely planet as diverse, unspoiled and utterly, utterly photogenic," it said.
Describing the country, the book said travellers could find "outlandish scenery, fabulous festivals, superb food and wine, and magical outdoor experiences".
But it warned tourist bosses to be careful to ensure that the country keeps its reputation for being a green and clean environment.
Charles Rawlings-Way, co-coordinating author of the book, said that the book now features 'green' listings that demonstrate where an active sustainable tourism policy is being implemented.
The book also takes a look into Maori tourism and said that travellers can experience genuine New Zealand through the local people.
