Explore Taveuni Island

One of the group of northern islands Taveuni provides a totally different experience from some of its more developed southern counterparts. Covered in lush rainforest which hides thundering waterfalls this is a great place to hike, horseride and explore. Most of the beaches are dark sand, reflecting the volcanic nature of these islands, and some of the most spectacular soft coral diving in the world is to be had off the shores here. In additional to all of this there is also a great choice of accommodation.

Experience the hospitality of the Fijian people

Whichever resort or island you visit in Fiji one of the overriding memories you will come away with is how friendly and genuine the people are. There is always song in the air and a 'no worries' atmosphere pervades. Most of the resorts hire staff from the local villages and they are often happy to show you where they come from and the way they live. It is easy to miss this aspect of the country if you only stay in mainland hotels which is another great reason to get out to the islands.

Whether you are heading to the northern islands in a small aircraft or to one of the Mamanuca Islands in a helicopter, seeing the islands from the air is a real treat. The beauty of the reefs and islands is enhanced by being seen from above and you realise just how many islands are out there!
