Reasons To
Visit Fiji

  • Culture

Fiji is considered the most multicultural of all the South Pacific countries. Today Indigenous Fijians make up 50 percent of the country's population, while Indo-Fijians make up 45 percent. Indo-Fijians are descendants of Indian labourers brought to the islands by the British in the nineteenth century. There are also small groups of Europeans, Chinese and other Pacific Island minorities.

For an off the beaten track, unique Fiji experience you cannot beat the Tui Tai. It fuses together culture, adventure and diving in the pristine waters of Northern Fiji heading off the beaten track for a truly authentic experience.

The diving and snorkelling are second to none; unspoilt coral reefs and excellent dive sites make the oceans here world class. Complementing the colourful underwater world are the rainforests and waterfalls on land which can be explored through walks and mountain biking.

You will be taken to visit some of Fiji's more isolated villages in order to mingle with the locals and learn about their way of life. The Tui Tai fosters partnerships and development with indigenous groups which share the economic benefits of the operation. And if all this gets too much you can retire to the sail deck with a good book and watch the world go by.

The Tui Tai itself, which means 'Chief from another land', is a magnificent 140 foot sailing schooner instantly recognized by its high masts and bright orange sails. The private cabins and luxury ensuite cabins are both air conditioned and feature double beds. However, with the mountain bikes, kayaks and snorkelling gear available on board you will spend little time in your room!

There are four decks on board; the sail deck which is perfect for sunbathing or stargazing, the sun deck which features the outdoor dining area and bar and the main deck with more dining facilities. The fourth deck houses Tui Tai's excellent crew whose hospitality is sure to be one of the highlights of your cruise.
