  • Include a drive along the Kauri Coast between the Bay of Islands and Auckland, and explore the majestic Waipoua Forest.
  • Take in a side trip along the Coromandel Peninsula and dig your own hot pool at Hot Water Beach.

Depart London on your international flight to Auckland

Day 3Auckland - Kerikeri - Paihia

Upon arrival in Auckland this morning you will be welcomed by one of our representatives who will hand you your documentation and transfer you to the domestic terminal. Here you will fly to Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands. Collect your hire car from the airport and make your way to the coastal town of Paihia.

Day 4Paihia

Spend the day at leisure exploring the Bay of Islands. Pay a visit to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, the historic location of the treaty signed between the Maori chiefs and the European settlers. Take a scenic flight to Ninety Mile Beach and Cape Reinga or a boat trip through the 'Hole in the Rock'.

Day 5Paihia - Auckland

Today you will drive down to Auckland the 'City of Sails'. Take a stroll around the harbour, visit the Auckland museum or take a ferry journey across to Rangitoto Island for scenic views back across to the city.

Day 6Auckland - Tauranga

This morning drive down to the Bay of Plenty on the east coast and the town of Tauranga.

Day 7Tauranga

Spend the day at leisure exploring the Bay of Plenty. You may want to drive to Whakatane and take a boat trip across to White Island. Perhaps take a walk to the top of Mount Manganui and enjoy the breathtaking views.

Day 8Tauranga - Lake Taupo

This morning drive inland to the thermal plateau region and the lakeside town of taupo. Spend the afternoon at leisure exploring the thermal reserve park of Wai-O-Tapu or the local hot springs.

Day 9Lake Taupo - Napier

Drive to the Hawkes Bay wine region and the art deco town of Napier today. Spend the afternoon exploring and viewing the fantastic art deco buildings the town is renowned for.

Day 10Napier

Take a morning trip to Cape Kidnappers to see the Gannet Colony and hear stories about Captain Cook and the tale behind the naming of the Cape. Spend the afternoon exploring the Hawkes Bay vineyards sampling the local produce.

Day 11Napier - Martinborough

Take a leisurely drive down to Martinborough and spend the afternoon wandering amongst the vineyards.

Day 12Wellington - Martinborough

You may wish to visit Wellington today. Here you can visit Te Papa Museum and take a stroll around the botanical gardens. The hop on hop off bus is a very convenient way to explore the city.

Day 13Martinborough - Wellington - Auckland

Today you will drive to Wellington airport to drop off your hire car. You will then board your flight back to Auckland and onto London.

Day 14London

Arrive back in to the UK
