    Canada enjoys a busy schedule of festivals and events, the majority of which take place during the summer months. Perhaps the most well-known of all the annual events is the Calgary Stampede, a ten-day festival which takes place in the second week of July. Dating back to 1912, the event showcases the area’s Wild West roots, with chuck-wagon races, a rodeo, bands, dancing and exhibitions.

Set on a bluff above the Saguenay Fjord, just outside the town of La Baie, the Auberge des Battures offers expansive views of the fjord and the town.

The 32 rooms are modern and comfortably furnished; most have private balconies and some also feature whirlpool spa baths. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, air conditioning/heating and free wireless internet access.

There are two outdoor terraces, a play room, billiard room and a video room. The restaurant has wonderful views across the fjord and offers excellent French/Canadian cuisine with an emphasis on fresh local produce. Don't miss the delicious home-made blackberry jam at breakfast time!
