    Canada enjoys a busy schedule of festivals and events, the majority of which take place during the summer months. Perhaps the most well-known of all the annual events is the Calgary Stampede, a ten-day festival which takes place in the second week of July. Dating back to 1912, the event showcases the area’s Wild West roots, with chuck-wagon races, a rodeo, bands, dancing and exhibitions.

Middle Beach Lodge on the Headland

Set amongst gigantic cedar and hemlock trees and overlooking the ocean, Middle Beach Lodge on the Headlands is a perfect coastal retreat. It is built amongst 40 acres of forest and has its own private beach.

The main lodge has a great hall with comfy armchairs, sofas and a roaring log fire as well as a terrace with wonderful views. Dining is an early, simple, home cooked affair, available with advanced booking on most nights. Complimentary afternoon tea and coffee, accompanied by freshly baked cookies are put out daily on a complimentary basis.

Cosy Lodge rooms with partial or full ocean views are available in the main building. In addition to this, there is a variety of room and cabin types to be found in the grounds; from spacious hotel style rooms to large cabins for families. Most have either a kitchenette or full kitchen (please specify your preference if this is important to you).

Most, apart from the Lodge rooms, have balconies and either Jacuzzi or soaker tubs. The heavy timbered cabins blend with the natural beauty of the west coast and antique pine furnishings, wooden floors and massive stone fireplaces add to the comfort of your stay.

Many of the cabins are built from recycled wood and this keeps the character of the property very much alive.
