Day 2Halifax

Enjoy a day exploring the interesting city of Halifax. For history buffs, don't miss Halifax Citadel and the famous Halifax Clock. Alternatively you may wish to take a sailing trip on one of the world's largest natural harbours or simply enjoy a glass of wine in one of the many waterfront pubs.

Day 3Halifax - Lunenburg

Collect your hire car and drive south, following the indented coastline to the quaint little fishing port of Lunenburg. Don't miss stopping en route at the famous lighthouse at Peggy's Cove. In Lunenburg you may wish to visit the renowned Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic.

Day 4Lunenburg

Spend a day exploring the UNESCO World Heritage town of Lunenburg. There are some superb museums and craft shops here, housed in old clapboard buildings, and usually there are old sailing ships moored in the harbour.

Day 5Lunenburg - Annapolis Royal

Drive from Lunenburg through the centre of southern Nova Scotia to Annapolis Royal. You may wish to stop and explore Kejimkujik National Park on the way which is lovely to look for turtles and deer as you explore by canoe.

Day 7Annapolis Royal - Pictou

Your drive today takes you from southern Nova Scotia to Pictou on the Northumberland Strait. Here you can see a replica of the sailing ship Hector that brought the first Scottish settlers to the province in 1773.

Day 8Pictou - Margaree

Drive north from Pictou to Margaree on the western coast of Cape Breton Island. This little village has wonderful sea views and is the perfect place to start exploring the Cabot Trail, one of North America's most spectacular coastal drives.
