Day 3Toronto - Niagara on the Lake
Collect your hire car from the downtown Toronto depot and drive out of the city towards Niagara Falls. Your destination is the pretty little town of Niagara on the Lake. You may wish to stop en route at some of the many excellent wineries that dot the Niagara Escarpment.
Day 4Niagara on the Lake
Spend the day exploring the flower-adorned streets of this historic town. You may wish to go jet-boating on the Niagara River, stroll along the lake-side parklands or visit the magnificent nearby spectacle of Niagara Falls.
Day 5Niagara on the Lake - St Jacobs
Drive from Niagara on the Lake to St. Jacob's in the heart of southern Ontario. St. Jacob's is a pretty village that lies at the heart of Ontario's Mennonite communities and offers a fascinating insight into their way of life.
Day 6St Jacobs - Goderich
If you are in St. Jacob's on a Saturday or Thursday, don't miss the local farmers' market before driving westwards to Goderich on the shores of Lake Huron.
Enjoy a day relaxing on the miles of sandy beaches along the shore of Lake Huron. Alternatively you may wish to discover the pretty little villages of the vicinity, such as Bayfield.
Day 8Goderich - Owen Sound
Today your drive takes you along the shore of Lake Huron to Owen Sound, lying at the foot of the Bruce Peninsula. There is time to explore small lakeside communities en route.
After a night in Owen Sound your route today leads you east and northwards to the lake-studded countryside of the Muskoka region, in the vicinity of Algonquin Provincial Park. The afternoon is free to explore the region and perhaps participate in some of the many available activities.
You may wish to visit Algonquin Provincial Park, a haven for all sorts of wildlife including moose, wolves, black bears and white tailed deer. There are some excellent walking trails and the park is also a wonderful place for canoeing and fishing.
Enjoy another full day exploring Algonquin Provincial Park or the delightful lake-strewn settlements nearby. Listen to the call of the loon, learn about the culture of the indigenous First Nations people or try your hand at wolf howling.
From Huntsville drive south back to Toronto, a journey of approximately 2.5 hours. Upon arrival at Toronto Airport, drop off your hire car prior to boarding your homeward flight.
