Cathedral Mountain Lodge
Field, British Columbia, Alberta & The Rockies
Located just outside Field, on the road towards beautiful Takakkaw Falls lies this utterly charming lodge. Constructed entirely from timber, the main lodge offers light and airy rooms full of natural light, which maximise the views of the omnipresent mountains. Despite not offering a lake-side location, the advantage is the peace and quiet and lack of day-trippers.
The main lodge has a spacious dining room and an adjacent lounge with a huge stone fireplace. Beyond this is a sun deck with wood fire and views of the Kicking Horse River. The dining room serves breakfast and dinner and hikers lunches can be provided; continental breakfast is included. In total there are 31 rooms, which are in either individual cabins that are dotted amongst the trees and have wood-burning fireplaces, or in the delightful cabins, which have a pot-bellied gas fireplace and either mountain or river views. Most rooms have a deep soaker bath tub, spa style shower head, fridge, Aveda bathroom products and locally made wooden furniture. Each is comfortably furnished with a delightful style, reflecting the personality of the mountains.
Guests have access to all amenities at Moraine Lake Lodge, including canoes, guided hikes and evening lectures, whilst nearby Takakkaw Falls offers some of the best hiking in the Rockies. The lodge also offers all Audley guests a complimentary half day hike or canoe trip at nearby sister property, Moraine Lake Lodge.
