Perhaps the most well-known of all the annual events is the Calgary Stampede, a ten-day festival which takes place in the second week of July. Dating back to 1912, the event showcases the area’s Wild West roots, with chuck-wagon races, a rodeo, bands, dancing and exhibitions.

This lovely property is situated in Rue St. Paul, right in the heart of old Montréal, and wonderfully reflects the atmosphere of the area. A historic building renovated with a contemporary twist, the Nelligan is a delightful boutique hotel. There are 105 spacious rooms with exposed brick and stone walls and lots of natural wood. Each room is beautifully furnished with plantation blinds, contemporary fabrics, CD player and free high speed internet connection.

Other amenities include a fitness centre, a roof-top terrace and Verses, a fine dining French restaurant. The atrium is where breakfast is served and it also doubles as a tearoom in the afternoon. Guests also have use of the spa at the Hotel Place d'Armes.
