La Lancha Resort, owned by Francis Ford Coppola, has beautiful views overlooking Lake Petén Itzá. It is located on a steep incline that descends to the lakeshore which means a stay here involves a fair number of steps. Built in a lovely rustic style, it is a comfortable jungle lodge with ten spacious thatched cabañas. All the rooms are well-furnished, have balconies, ceiling fans and mosquito screens. The lodge has a small pool and a restaurant specialising in Guatemalan local dishes.
