Holy Week in Honduras: 13-03-2008

Easter celebrations in Honduras are not to be missed by travellers looking to experience the country's most colourful cultural event.
With Easter only a week away, visitors can expect to see worshippers rushing to churches for services that take place throughout the week. The capital, Tegucigalpa, has many different churches all constructed in different styles and all visited many times during Holy Week.
Elaborate mosaics are constructed in the streets of the town for locals and visitors to walk over during the processions. Made of brightly coloured sawdust, the patterns depict images of Christ's journey with the cross.
Travellers visiting Honduras can also expect some delicious cuisine as they celebrate Holy Week. Coconut is a main ingredient in many dishes from the area and is used in both savory and sweet recipes as well as soups.
