Christmas showcases Mexican music: 21-12-2007

Mexico celebrates Christmas in a big way and Mexico City holds a week-long festival in the run-up to the event.
Known locally as the Festival Navideno de la Ciudad de Mexico, jubilant crowds fill the streets and squares and cultural venues of the city.
Beginning on December 16th and continuing to the December 23rd, the event includes gospel, jazz, blues, funk, pop and latin tunes.
El Zocalo, el Monumento a la Revolucion, Plaza Gante, la Alameda Central and Teatro de la Ciudad will all be filled with revellers and visitors enjoying the tradition and culture of the city.
A vast array of music is available in Mexican society and it shows the diversity of the culture in the country.
Mariachi, Banda and Norteno are a few examples of the traditional music styles that travellers will find across Mexico as well as classical music from orchestras in the bigger cities.
