Time capsule protected bell tower: 17-01-2008

A time capsule has been discovered on top of the bell tower at Mexico City's Metropolitan Cathedral, it has been reported.
It is thought the capsule was placed in 1791 in an attempt to protect the building from harm.
The lead box, found by restorers inside the stone ball base of a cross that sits on top of the 200-foot southern bell tower, is filled with religious artefacts, coins and parchments, according to macon.com.
It also contains a small case of wax blessed by the Pope, which has been inserted to avert disasters.
The cathedral is steeped in history, making it a worthy attraction for visitors to the area.
It has been flooded, fought over and damaged due to it being built on top of an Aztec pyramid - all in spite of the case of wax.
