Centrally located just a couple of blocks from the cathedral, Hotel El Convento was one of the country’s earliest convents and dates back to the 17th century. After religious organisations were expelled from the country it fell into disrepair but has now been restored and is undoubtedly the best hotel in León. There are 32 rooms, furnished with antiques and decorated with original works of art, positioned around a beautifully calm central courtyard, with a restaurant and lively café, ‘El Patio’.
