The Darien National Park is one of the wildest, most inhospitable parts of Panama, ideal for those with a desire to experience the outdoors, indulge a spirit of adventure, and sacrifice creature comforts. In return you’ll discover plenty of wildlife, birds (including the endangered harpy eagle), wonderful flora and an opportunity to learn more about the history and way of life of the Emberá and Wounaan people. Trips to the Darien are arranged by local operators with particular experience in the area. Solely restricted to travelling to certain parts of the region, these trips are run in small groups, generally for at least four nights and leave on set dates: by sacrificing flexibility you gain a fabulous chance to explore one of the world’s most remote regions.
