Spend some time off the beaten track in the stunning pools at Semuc Champey and the caves of Lanquin before driving further north to the impressive Maya site of Tikal. The temples pierce through the jungle canopy giving you unparalled views over the lush countryside and into Mexico.

Belize is only a hop away and soon you will experience a new culture, a real melting pot of people from Creole, Garifuna and Hispanic backgrounds. The lodges in the Mountain Pine area offer a chance to explore more ruins and caves either by foot, car or horseback. Your next stop inland is at Big Falls, in the south of Belize.
