Bihar welcomes back travellers and pilgrims: 14-10-2008

Travellers are being welcomed back to the eastern state of Bihar following the recent flooding in the north of the province.
The famous Sonepur cattle fair begins on November 12th and there will also be a Buddhist pilgrimage in the area towards the end of October.
The pilgrimage will involve a ceremony at the world's highest peace pagoda, facing Griddhrakuta Hill.
Lord Buddha is supposed to have preached the sacred 'Lotus Sutra' here for eight years and the pagoda will celebrate its 39th anniversary on October 25th.
Over 100 pilgrims are expected to converge on the area, including 50 from Japanese companies CGC and Santoku.
Unfortunately, the pilgrims will be delayed slightly in their journey as the road bridge at Tungi is still closed despite repeated requests from tourism officials to speed up rebuilding work.
