Visit Foothills of The Himalaya
This beautiful property is in a stunning setting, with the Dhauladhars behind and the Maharana Pratap Sagar (reservoir) surrounding it on 3 sides. Not far away the Pong dam built in the early 60s has created a wonderful bird sanctuary and retreat where you can truly escape everyday life.
Set in beautiful tropical gardens with orange, mango and papaya trees sits Basunti, named after the pink flower that appears all around the area. This new and idyllic private lakeside retreat in Himachal Pradesh with views across the Himalayas offers a wonderful experience. Depending on what time of year you stay there is always something different on offer. The bird life over the winter is immense and as the water levels drop through the spring and summer there are some simply incredible sites which appear. Other activities like swimming, fishing, biking and photography are pursuits everyone can enjoy.
The resort has been beautifully designed to fit with the local environment, they produce the majority of the fresh fruit and veg themselves, Dave the owner is also a keen baker so you will find a scrumptious array of breads. Importantly much of the profit made is shared with the local community, all of whom have a great relationship with the owners.
