Enjoy walking in the Himalaya
The state of Uttaranchal, known as ‘Abode of the Gods’, offers some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world combined with a culture that has been protected here for generations.
The emphasis is on enjoyable rather than challenging trekking and a few days, gentle walking, staying in a luxury tented camp or with local families, is an unusual and atmospheric way to explore this rarely visited area.
For homestays, March to May and mid-September to mid-December provide dry, clear days and cooler nights, while camping is best from April to mid-June and mid-September to mid-November when the days and nights are a little warmer.
