Places to See and Stay: Orange County - Nagarhole National Park

Set in a prime location on the banks of Kabini River, very close to Nagarhole National Park, this property which opened in autumn 2007 offers very comfortable accommodation situated in 15 acres of grounds.

The inspiration for the buildings comes from the mud-walled thatched dwellings of a local tribe, the Kadu Kurubas. All of the 30 suites are beautifully finished in a traditional safari style but with plenty of facilities and are notably spacious. Each room has a private courtyard with either a jacuzzi or a private pool with built-in jacuzzi. Environmental initiatives include the provision of safe drinking water in each room (via a hidden reverse osmosis plant) to reduce the problem of plastic water bottles.

The staff are well trained and efficient and when you are not exploring the national park, or relaxing by the lovely infinity pool they can help arrange a number of excursions including bird watching, coracle boat rides, rides on the resident elephant or a tribal village visit.
