Places to See and Stay: Waynad - India

Visit Kerala

Nestling amongst the mountains of Western Ghat is the region of Waynad, where green hillsides are coated with coffee, banana, rubber and tea plantations. Its name is thought to mean ‘Land of the Paddies’ and it is known for its tribal population, including a Jain minority who have built many temples in the area. Though remote, a few hotels have been developed for visitors and it is well worth a visit if you have the time. It is also a good place to break the journey between Mysore and Ooty or Cochin.
