Visit Mumbai Goa and The Deccan
Situated in Madhya Pradesh, and accessed by train to Umaria only 45 kilometres away, Bandhavgarh is the smallest of three parks in the region. Covering an area of 105 square kilometres, it is bordered by a small village where the lodges and camps are located.
The park terrain is a mixture of thick sal and bamboo forest interspersed with open marshland; an ideal habitat for wild boar, jackal and sambar, and a healthy tiger population. Game drives are taken in the early morning and late afternoon in small ‘gypsy’ jeeps. As part of a morning safari you can view tiger from elephant back. The elephant has to be the greatest off road vehicle ever invented and you will find yourself ambling along at a gentle rolling pace.
