Places to See and Stay: Mandu - India

Visit Rajasthan and The North

A fortified area of 20 square kilometres perched on the top of a plateau, Mandu has the best collection of ancient monuments from the early Mughal era in India. The highlights include numerous palaces, a lovely step well and a mosque partly constructed from stones taken from nearby Hindu temples demolished by the Mughals, producing a fascinating mix of Hindu and Muslim architecture. The lost world feeling and peaceful atmosphere found at Mandu makes it an appealing place to visit.
