This complex of intricately carved marble columns, domes and temples is brought to life by the devout Jain priests, monks and nuns whose chants resonate throughout the compound. The central Chaumukha Temple - comprising 1,444 beautifully carved pillars - dates back to 1439 and is a photographer’s dream. Ranakpur can be reached on the way to Udaipur and its surrounding areas, or as a day excursion from there.
