The Everest Summit Lodge at Monjo (2850m) overlooks the small village and has a backdrop of the Thamserku Himal, a mountain which rises up to about 6600m. The rooms are quite small but are clean and neat with attached bathrooms with hot and cold running water, showers and western toilets. The lodge is decorated in the Tibetan style and the beds are comfortable with cosy bedding. A hot water bottle in your bed at night is a welcome luxury. The staff are friendly and welcoming and keen to look after you. The food is plentiful and delicious - just what the doctor ordered after a day's hard trekking.
