Only two hours south of Colombo and an hour and a half north of Galle, this popular beach resort is an ideal place to unwind at the end of your tour or to charge your energies at the beginning of your travels. The wide choice of hotels ranges from boutique to resort, suiting every traveller from honeymooning couples to families. The beach is a wide curve of golden sand facing the Indian Ocean, backed by a railway line, with a good choice of restaurants within easy walking distance. Since the tsunami in December 2004 the infastructure has recovered remarkably well and the majority of hotels are welcoming guests again.
