government offices still housed in grand colonial buildings. Overlooking the Indian Ocean, Galle Face Green is a wonderful open recreational space used for kite flying and other pastimes. Downtown Colombo abounds with shops selling crafts, textiles and jewels with plenty of good restaurants available serving an array of Sri Lankan and international cuisines.
