Only a 20-minute ride from Malé, the extremely high standards, green ethic and minute attention to detail which make Soneva Fushi so special have been replicated at its sister property, Soneva Gili. Located on a small island surrounded by a huge crystalline lagoon, Soneva Gili’s predominant theme is water, with a network of jetties threading across the water. The 44 palatial yet rustic Suites and Residences are all located above the lagoon and all offer roof-top and over-water sundecks, while the incredible Crusoe Residences are only accesible by private boat for the ultimate in castaway seclusion. During the day the lagoon is perfect for snorkelling while those wishing to experience life beneath the waves can learn to dive at the island’s own fully-equipped PADI diving school. Alternatively, the glass floored treatment rooms of the Six Senses Spa are a less energetic option. The bar and gym are also located above the water, with the sandy-floored restaurant’s superb food and wine to tempt you ashore.
