Kabini River Lodge
Nagarhole National Park
Situated on the southern edge of the park on the banks of the river, the government owned and run Kabini River Lodge is a former hunting lodge of the Maharaja of Mysore.
A bar, lounge and offices are now located in the heritage buildings while the accommodation is in simple cottages or rooms. The large grounds are dotted with huge specimen trees. Between game drives simple set meals are served at communal tables in the Gol Ghar, a basic open-sided gazebo.
As well as game drives by jeep and boat, excursions on the Kabini River can be arranged in buffalo hide coracles, similar to those used by the local Kuruba tribes, who are also noted for their honey gathering skills.
