Nagaur is a small city in central Rajasthan in between Jodhpur and Bikaner.

The history of the city dates back to around 4th century BC when it was founded by the Naga Kshatriyas. The Nagaur Fort, part of it was recently restored and converted into a hotel, is of historical importance and played a major part during the Muslim invasion from Central Asia.

After independence Nagaur was selected as the place in the country from where the Democratic Decentralisation process was launched by the first Prime Minister of India, the late Shri Jawaharlal Nehru.
