View from Tangboche to Everest
Pangboche (3,985m) used to be the highest permanently occupied village in the Khumbu until tourism created a demand for lodges higher up the valley towards Base Camp.
It is a pleasant village with great views and an old monastery which you can look around.
The village is mostly surrounded by farmed fields, growing vegetables for the lodges.
Trekking in the Everest region doesn't have to involve overnights in draughty teahouses - there is a chain of 'luxury lodges' up here so you can experience the wonderful trekking in relative overnight comfort!
