Luxury spa opens in India: 16-10-2007

For weary travellers who want some healing of mind, body and spirit when they visit India, the new Divya Spa and Ayurvedic Centre has just opened at the five-star Leela Kovalam Beach Resort in Kerala.
While anyone who knows the resort on the coast of the Arabian Sea in south-west India will be aware that it offers a luxury holiday, the new spa centre will offer even more of an opportunity to wind-down and relax.
Ayurveda is the ancient traditional Indian art of healing and is believed to be the oldest in the world, dating back thousands of years.
Now visitors can indulge their senses in the 8,000-square-foot spa, which is situated on a rock ledge and offers panoramic views of the sea.
The Ayurveda Centre offers treatments such as Shirodhora, which involves warm oil being drizzled onto key chakras, a process that is supposed to connect you to your higher consciousness. Herbal oils are used throughout treatments to nourish and detoxify the body and awaken the soul.
All visitors who book onto a treatment will be given a one-to-one consultations with Ayurvedic doctors a daily 75-minute therapeutic massage.
If none of that sends your soul to a higher plane, there is a peaceful open-air Meditation Hall where you can learn yoga and guided meditation from an authentic Master who has trained in the Himalayas.
