Day by Day

Day 1London

You depart the UK on a flight to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka.

Day 2Colombo - Kandy

On arrival you will be met by your chauffeur-guide and transferred the three-to-four hour journey to the former Royal capital of Kandy. Rest of the day at your own leisure.

Day 3Colombo - Kandy

Late morning we have included a visit to the Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage and Millennium Elephant Foundation in time for lunch, a wonderful experience where you can get up close and personal with this mighty, yet gentle mammal. Later that afternoon you visit to the Temple of the Tooth, one of the most famous Buddhist sites, not just in Sri Lanka but in the religion worldwide followed by a visit to an early evening performance of traditional Kandyan Dance.

Day 4Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

This morning you take a train south to the tea country, where sat in the observation carriage you have fantastic views out over the tea plantations and pickers working the harvest. In the afternoon you visit one of the wonderful tea estates with your guide, on an educational (and taste-testing!) experience.

Day 5Nuwara Eliya

An early start to the day as you drive to Horton Plains for a walk through the national park to World's End. Rest of the day at your own leisure.

Day 6Nuwara Eliya - Galle

This morning you depart the tea country and head south and along the coastline to Galle, a Unesco Heritage Site where small backstreets in the Dutch Fort provide a very charming experience. Evening at your own leisure.

Day 7Galle

Day at your own leisure to explore Galle.

Day 8Galle

When the weather is good it's worthwhile to take a boat trip along the coast.

Day 9Galle - Colombo

This morning you depart Galle and drive north along the coastline to your accommodation in Colombo Rest of the day at your own leisure.

Day 10Colombo

After breakfast you will be met by your chauffeur-guide and transferred to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
