Day by Day

Day 1London

Today you will start your exciting journey and will fly from London to Colombo.

Day 2Colombo - Anamaduwa

On arrival in Colombo you will be met by your private car and driver who will take you directly north into rural Sri Lanka. This should take 3-4 hours. Enjoy this afternoon at your rustic retreat, The Mudhouse. This evening you will enjoy an authentic Sri Lankan dinner surrounded by lanterns.

Day 3Anamaduwa

Enjoy today at leisure. You may want to visit the local lakes, enjoy a temple tour, go bird watching, experience a mangrove & lagoon boat trip or enjoy a guided cycle trip. There's also free bikes to help you explore this wonderful remote area.

Day 4Anamaduwa - Habarana

From The Mudhouse you will head up to the ancient cities, to Habarana. This should take around 4.5hrs. This afternoon you will experience a Jeep Safari in nearby Minneriya or Kandulla National Park. These two parks are separated by the main road and your guide will take you to the area where the elephants are currently located. You will get to see some interesting bird life, wild deer and if you're lucky a heard of wild elephants!

Day 5Habarana

This morning will be an early start to visit Sigiriya Rock, one of Sri Lanka's greatest natural formations. This is best visited as early as possible because it is quite a climb and later in the day it can become hot. The views from the top are spectacular but if you can't make it enjoy the wonderful surroundings below. This afternoon you will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Polonnaruwa, which once was the royal capital. Here you will find monuments which date back over 1000 years, including the Royal Palace and the iconic reclining Buddha.

Day 6Habarana - Trincomalee

From Habarana you will head to the east coast, a journey which should take around 2.5hrs. The beaches on the east coast are normally best visisted during this time of the year. Here you can simply relax on the beach and enjoy some time at leisure.

Day 7Trincomalee

Enjoy today at leisure. You may want to visit Trincomalee today.

Day 8Trincomalee

Enjoy today at leisure. You may want to learn all about the local fishermen today.

Day 9Trincomalee

Enjoy today at leisure.

Day 10Trincomalee - Kandy

From Trincomalee your driver will bring you south to Kandy in the hills. This journey will take around 6 hours, so relax when you arrive. Notice that the weather is much cooler and the surroundings are now very lush.

Day 11Kandy

Visit the Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage and The Millenium Elephant Foundation today. Early this evening your driver will take you to a performance of the famous Kandyan Dancing which is a wonderful display of dance and spectacular drumming. Afterwards your guide will take you to the nearby Temple of The Sacred Tooth, which houses Sri Lanka's most significant relic, the tooth of the Buddha.

Day 12Kandy

Today you will go white water rafting in the Kelaniya Ganga. As another option you may want to go hiking in the surrounding hills.

Day 13Kandy - Colombo

Enjoy this morning at leisure. This afternoon you will be taken back to Colombo where you will spend your final night. This journey should take 4 to 5 hours with a stop for a bit to eat.

Day 14Colombo

This morning you will be picked up and will be taken to the airport for your flight home after a wonderful trip.
