Places to See and Stay: The Nile - Egypt

Cruising the Nile has long been seen as the most romantic way to visit the monuments of Ancient Egypt. Most cruises today ply the waters between Luxor and Aswan visiting the major sights. The boats are essentially floating hotels and sightseeing is done in organised groups from the boats. There are a large number of Nile cruisers, and only a few offer the sort of consistently high standards we look for. We also like to try and work with those that have private moorings, although there are only a couple of these. Dahabiyyas, traditional Nile sailing vessels refurbished as luxury passenger carriers, are an up-and-coming possibility as well. Once you are sailing along the Nile, taking in bucolic scenes as old as the tombs and temples you visit, the romanticism of Nile cruising becomes evident.
