Feynan Lodge is newly opened, and is a superb lodge in many ways. It is wonderfully remote and set amidst stark rocky desert, so your sense of getting away from the world is remarkable.
It has been superbly designed - cool shady areas offer inviting spots to absorb the silence and solitude, whilst the rooms are roomy and comfortable. It is also very eco-friendly: all the materials used are traditional local materials and the adobe walls add to the atmosphere; all power is solar generated and in the evenings, everything is candle-lit.
Although it's not the easiest place to get to (part of its attraction!), being a five hour hike or three hour jeep ride from the entrance to the reserve, it is absolutely worth the effort and is one of the most unique and special hotels in the whole Middle East region.
