Experience the medieval medina of Fez

See the sunset over the Erg Chebbi

As the light changes with every passing minute, so does the colour of the dunes, from harsh yellow, through honeyed gold and ochre into an almost purple colour. The night sky is one of the most amazing sights to behold: with little or no light pollution, and clear, dry desert air, it seems that every star in creation is visible, so much so that you cannot pick out staple favourites like the Plough or Orion from the cluttered pinpricks of light.

However, the sultans of the Merenid dynasty chose to bury their dead here, and it is as a necropolis that the Chellah is most famous.
