Dakka Marrakchia adds even more to Morocco: 24-01-2008

Travellers visiting North Africa in February should check out the Dakka Marrakchia, a musical festival in Marrakech.
Depicting traditional Moroccan music and consisting of polyrhythmic percussion and choral chants, the event is a special part of the city's calendar.
The music is performed by craftsmen and shopkeepers from the area's neighbourhoods and they act as a tribute to Sabaatou Rijal who are the city's seven spiritual patrons.
Visitors spending a number of days in the city will not find themselves short of things to do with a trip to the Medina guaranteed to be exciting, relaxing or a combination of the two.
Inside the old city walls, visitors can head to quiet and shaded garden areas or visit the outstanding architecture of many mosques.
One of the main attractions is the main square, the Djmaa El Fna, which serves as a focal point of the old town and an entrance to the legendary souks.
Visitors can trawl through the maze of stalls that sell everything from tea pots to rugs and spices and if they can find their way out by night-time the square will be full of excitement.
Smoke rises from the centre as stalls serve up hot food cooked in front of you and fire-eaters and snake charmers provide the entertainment.
Visiting in the time of the Dakka Marrakchia festival provides an occasion to witness even more of the city's unique culture.
