Rose festival in Morocco: 21-04-2008

El Kelaa des M'Gouna is home to a beautiful Moroccan festival that takes place every May.
Located in the Dades Valley - the Valley of the Roses - the event sees farmers from the surrounding area gather to celebrate their harvest of the fragrant flower.
Many litres of the scented rosewater, which is used in various tasks including cooking and cleaning, are produced in the valley and consequentially many roses are needed.
Festivities make the harvest an exciting time and markets can be found all over the area selling everything from jewellery to spices.
A rose queen is also chosen to reign over the crop of petals.
