Muscat festival shows tradition of Oman: 18-12-2007

Visitors to the middle-east will be able to sample some of Oman's culture and heritage during the Muscat festival that takes place during January.
Music, theatre, art and sport are all included in the event as well as other traditional activities held at venues across the city.
Each year the festival can attract over two million visitors and it is both fun and informative.
Lectures and forums, seminars on Islam and poetry readings take place at the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque while international music concerts, singing and the theatrical attractions are staged in the appropriate settings of the Amphitheatre and Al Bahja Beach Theatre.
Muscat also represents a good place for holiday makers to enjoy themselves and experience Oman's culture in surprisingly green surroundings, given the humid environment.
Arabic is the official language spoken in the region which is heavily Muslim and although non-Muslims are allowed to practice their religion, they may not distribute religious literature.
