Harry grew up in Oman where his father was helping to set up the veterinary services in the emerging Sultanate. 25 exciting years there created an affection for this charming country, which lead him to read Arabic and Spanish at Edinburgh University. Six months studying in Egypt and a recent research trip to Syria have given him a detailed knowledge of all these fascinating countries. After working as an interpreter in Iraq, he returned to the UK, joining an exclusive hotel agency which gave him a solid introduction to the travel industry. Whenever time allows he returns to the region to visit favourite haunts, expanding his knowledge of the area. When not working, he enjoys photography, music and mastering the art of cooking a mean curry!
After living in the Gulf as a child, Sarah studied Arabic and French at Edinburgh University and lived in Cairo during her course. Cairo was the ideal base for travelling around Egypt, Jordan and Syria, visiting all the major cities and archaeological sites, as well as learning about the regional culture and traditions. She has since spent a year in Tunisia teaching English and completed a further degree in Middle East Studies, confirming her interest and passion for the area. Recent trips to Egypt, Jordan, Libya and Oman with Audley Travel have ensured that her enthusiasm is as strong as ever and her knowledge of the sights, guides and hotels is right up-to-date. When not working, Sarah enjoys running and playing netball and is interested in world cinema and music.
