Day by Day

Day 1London - Cairo

On arrival in Cairo you will be greeted at the airport by our local representative and taken to your hotel for a two night stay.

Day 2Cairo

This morning you will be met from your hotel by your private guide for a full day tour of the pyramids at Giza, Dashur and Saqqara.

Day 3Cairo - Alexandria

Today you will travel by train from Cairo to Alexandria, a journey of roughly four hours. Our local representative will take you to the Station in Cairo and help you board the train. The journey will be unaccompanied, but on arrival in Alexandria you will be greeted again and taken to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4Alexandria - Siwa

You travel to Siwa today - a long journey of around eight hours. You'll stop on the way for a poignant visit of El Alamein battlefield.

Day 5Siwa

An early start for a full day tour of the Siwa area. Highlights include the Mountain of the Dead, a swim in Cleopatra's Spring and the fascinating Siwa Museum.

Day 6Siwa

A second day of exploration around Siwa, including an expedition to watch the sun set over the desert.

Day 7Siwa - Bahariya Oasis

Another long drive of approximately eight hours today. There are lots of stops en route at isolated oases and strange dune formations.

Day 8Bahariya Oasis - Farafra Oasis

This morning you have a half day excursion to the main sights in Bahariya. These include a local museum displaying the `Golden Mummies` and the tombs of two pharaohs from the XXVI Dynasty. In the afternoon you continue to Farafra. This journey is done on a paved road and will take around four hours, passing through picturesque desert landscapes.

Day 9Farafra Oasis - Dakhla Oasis

Today you continue to Dakhla. This afternoon you have a guided tour of the oasis, taking in Al Qasr, an old Islamic settlement built on Roman foundations, and the Temple of Haga, dedicated to the god Seth.

Day 10Dakhla Oasis - Kharga Oasis

Your journey today takes you to the final oasis on the desert circuit, Kharga. The highlight here is the necropolis of Bagawat, a collection of 250 mud brick chapels built by the Christians.

Day 11Kharga Oasis - Luxor

This morning you leave the Western Desert and travel to Luxor. After the five hour drive you arrive at your hotel for a three night stay.

Day 12Luxor

Today you have a guided tour of the imposing Temples of Karnak and Luxor, on the East Bank. The Temple of Luxor at sunset is a particularly memorable sight.

Day 13Luxor

It's an early start for a half day guided tour of Luxor's West Bank, taking in the Valley of the Kings and Hatchepsut's Temple.

Day 14Luxor - Cairo

Your driver will collect you today for the transfer to Luxor Airport in time for your flight to Cairo. From Cairo you fly back to London.
