This is a great option for those who want something traditional in style, but perhaps not as small or intimate as a riad. It also has the advantage of often having rooms available when the riads are full.
In the southwest of the medina, not too far from the Saadien Tombs and the Agdal Gardens, Les Jardins de la Medina combines a boutique hotel with traditional architecture and consistently high standards.
At the heart of the hotel is a large courtyard, filled with vibrant greenery sheltering a pool. The use of adobe walls and earthen colours reinforces the African feel of this hotel, whilst modern comfortable furnishings in each of the 36 rooms ensure a comfortable night.
For those upgrading their rooms, there are private terraces to look forward to, whilst all rooms, as in a traditional riad, face into the courtyard and not out onto the busy streets.

While in Fez you must pay a visit to the local tanneries which are fascinating although a little smelly - always take the fresh mint that is offered to you, it helps disguise the smell!
