La Mamounia
Marrakesh
Since first opening in 1923, La Mamounia has enjoyed a reputation as the best place to stay in Marrakesh. After extensive and lavish renovations that took over three years, the hotel reopened in September 2009, boasting a grand, opulent style, with vast sitting areas, elaborate staircases and marble floors and pillars.
The beautiful gardens at the back of the hotel lead to a stylish new Moroccan restaurant, one of four that you can choose from, while the atmospheric Churchill Bar is one of the few areas that has remained untouched. Each of the rooms and suites are spacious and comfortable, and there is a luxurious indoor spa, purportedly the largest in Morocco.
With a reputation and back story that still attracts glamorous visitors aplenty, the location and sense of history ensure that La Mamounia continues to be one of the most popular and expensive accommodation options in Marrakesh.
