Visit Kyrgyzstan for a spectacular glacial event: 28-03-2008

Travelling to the mysterious destination of Kyrgyzstan gives visitors a chance to see a once-in-a-lifetime geographical phenomenon.
A huge glacial lake in the remote highlands of the country empties itself in just a matter of days when the icy wall that blocks off the water from the glacier melts.
The natural dam is broken and water is sent hurling down the mountain as the reservoir completely empties.
The event usually takes place between January and March but often falls outside those dates due to the unpredictably of nature.
But the lake gradually fills up again only to repeat the process later in the year.
Travellers looking to witness the spectacular occasion, will face several problems - the timing of the event and the remote location.
But if they can make it up the mountain at the right time it will be worth it as the whole landscape shakes beneath the crushing of the ice.
