Tailor Made Holidays in China: In the News

Modern Sky rocks China once more: 08-10-2008

The Great Wall of ChinaTravellers in China were last week able to enjoy one of the country's biggest music festivals - the Modern Sky Music Festival.

The three day event ran from October 1st and featured rock, hip-hop, folk, electronica and punk rock acts.

Running for more than ten years, Modern Sky has become more edgy and trendy than its more rock-focused counterpart - Midi.

"The difference between the two is that Midi offers more rock and roll, while Modern Sky is more trendy and unconventional," Modern Sky chief executive officer Shen Lihui told China Today.

"But whatever the difference, people are in for a musical treat for the holidays."

Despite becoming more mainstream, when the festival began more than a decade ago, Modern Sky was very much at the pinnacle of China's underground music scene, with its independent label releasing over 50 definitive underground albums across a range of genres.

This year's festival featured a market, where visitors could pick up all sorts of music-related memorabilia.
