Extensions
For the adventurous traveller a trip to the precipitous and remote Kurdish villages of western Iran is a must. A short flight to the south are the Elamite ziggurats of Choqa Zanbil. It is now possible to combine Iran with a visit to Central Asia, linking Samarkand with Merv and Esfahan. You can also continue north or west, to the ancient churches and vineyards of the Caucasus or to Eastern Turkey, reputed home of Noah’s Ark.
